Programs

Elementary Schools

The Elementary Program offers engaging drug prevention assemblies for 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students across the four local school districts. The assemblies are conducted at 36 elementary schools and 7 junior high schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, reaching approximately 9,000 students. The Drug Awareness assemblies serve as the students’ first introduction to the Drug Free Youth in Santa Clarita Valley (DFY in SCV) program.

Junior High & High Schools

Drug Awareness + Peer Leadership + Wellness + Advocacy

At the junior high and high school levels, students take a more active role in promoting a drug-free lifestyle. Through the DFY in SCV peer-led club, students lead campus-wide drug awareness campaigns, advocate for healthy choices, and promote mental and emotional wellness. They gain leadership experience, build positive peer networks, and develop the confidence to be strong voices for change in their schools and communities.

Mindful Moments Series

Students participate in a 3-day lunchtime initiative focused on drug awareness, featuring engaging activities that highlight the dangers of drug use and encourage healthy decision-making. The events are led by the DFY in SCV Club Advisor with support from Club Officers and members.

Leadership Conference

In November, DFY in SCV hosts separate Leadership Conferences for junior high and high school students. These events provide club officers and members with hands-on leadership training, guidance on planning campus activities, and opportunities for teamwork through engaging exercises and fun, interactive activities. The conferences are designed to inspire and prepare students to lead drug awareness efforts on their campuses throughout the school year.
